Inspiration & Creation

Beloved was created to reflect my light and my eternal love for the Egyptian goddess Bast. Digital art has always been the quickest medium for translating the visions and light I experience within my spiritual self, allowing me to easily layer my inner world into a vivid reflection of spirit and truth.

This piece radiates with the essence of Bast, whose divine spirit has been guiding and protecting me for a very long time. It is both a tribute to her power and a declaration of my own becoming.

The Goddess Bast & Her Primordial Connection

In Ancient Egyptian tradition, Bast (or Bastet) was revered as the goddess of protection, fertility, joy, music, and the home. She embodied both fierce guardianship and nurturing love, often represented as a lioness or a sacred cat adorned with jewelry. Bast was not only a protector but also a symbol of divine feminine strength, sensuality, and spiritual connection.

Her spirit, interwoven with those of Maat (truth, justice, cosmic balance) and Sekhmet (power, healing, transformation), forms a lineage of primordial goddesses embodying love, light, and magic. Through Bast, one connects to the full spectrum of divine feminine energy.

Symbolism & Meaning

The title Beloved is deeply personal, reflecting the etymology of my own name, Pya, which means “Beloved.” To me, this artwork affirms that in essence, I am Bast—and within her, I am also Maat, Sekhmet, and the divine feminine lineage of goddesses that have always existed.

The radiant golden aura and Eye of Horus amplify themes of divinity, protection, and sacred vision, while the desert sands evoke the eternal presence of Egypt itself—timeless, infinite, and powerful.
